Growing up in Lukla, the gateway to Mt. Everest, Pema has seen thousands of tourists pass through her home village. Watching her father work with trekkers, Pema knew that the industry offered good jobs that could support a family and allow her to meet people from all over the world. Inspired by these opportunities, Pema began working as a lead guide in 2007 and has since led treks in the Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, and Helambu Regions. During her time as a trekking guide she has enjoyed visiting many beautiful places and has gained friends from all over the world. She enjoys teaching others about her own Sherpa (and Nepali) culture while at the same time learning about her client’s culture and home country. Pema says “I have been loving my job and I will continue [as long as] I have energy.” When not trekking in the mountains, Pema enjoys studying English, visiting new places, reading, and watching travel documentaries. Pema is a self-described, “energetic, talkative, responsible, hardworking, female trekking guide.” She looks forward to sharing her country and culture with you.

I recommend Pema as a guide. She exceeded our expectations. She made sure that all our needs were attended. Before our journey, she ensured that we were properly geared up. She took us to Thamel to complete our gear and bargain with the salesmen. On the mountain, she had a very good knowledge of the terrain. She looked after our safety and advised us on best practices during treks. She looked after how we felt to pursue the next stages of the journey. She prepared for our bags of salt when we would encounter leeches. We were initially planned for EBC. Due to the weather conditions, we decided to trek in the Annapurna region. Pema helped us manage the change by arranging our transportation and accommodation. Pema is also well connected and integrated with the workers and the owners of lodges. At one of the lodges, we had the privilege to enter the kitchen and learn to make and cook our own "Momos". Along the 10 days, we spent together, we became friends and shared jokes and laughs. We had the pleasure to meet her family at her home and cook together. We are very lucky and happy to have had our 1st experience in Nepal with Pema. We will definitely have Pema again as a guide in our next trek in Nepal.

We had thought about making the hike without a guide - SO glad we didn't. Pema is a Sherpa - her knowledge of the community, the culture and the friends and family she introduced us to brought a whole new level to our trip. It was the difference between a good experience to a great experience. I highly recommend her. I made the hike with my three daughters - ages 17 and 15 year old twins. She immediately connected with them. My girls have visited 10 countries and have had some great experiences, but this hike to Everest Base Camp was their absolute favorite. Much of the reason was the great care, the local interactions and learning about the region and Nepal - all under Pema's great care and direction. I cannot recommend her enough.

Pema was a very helpful friendly and accommodating guide. She was very supportive and encouraging, shared her very good knowledge of the Kumbu area and it was lovely that she knew so many people and lodge owners in the valley. This made us feel very 'at home and welcome' at all the places where we stayed. She had chosen a very good porter who came with us, and made sure he was well equpped and well looked after where we stayed. Pema provided clear guiding and leadership at the same time being flexible and open to our ideas and wishes regarding our itinerary. We had a very good time with her, felt well looked after and enjoyed her company. We deliberately sought and chose a woman guide and this worked out very well for us.

We are both novice hikers and felt we needed a guide so that we wouldn't screw things up. It turns out Pema was the perfect choice as she helped us set a manageable pace, cheered us on and ensured that we were ok as we pulled into our bed each night. Thanks, Pema for making everything enjoyable and running smoothly!!!

Pema overall was a wonderful guide. She was patient, helpful, attentive, knowledgeable and abpure pleasure to have met. She quickly and easily changed our trek to Ghandruk Loop when our Lukla flight was cancelled and assisted us in finding accommodations for the night on last minute notice. Took our pace into account during the trek. We highly recommend her to anyone and will request her for any possible future treks.

Pema was attentive to all our needs. She was discreet and respectful of our personal space. We felt very confidènt in our safety while under her care. As an all womens group we felt very privileged to have a female guide. Her connection to local women along the walking route gave us an avenue to build special connections with these women. We really enjoyed sharing our trek with Pema.

Our trek to EBC and Cho La Pass was absolutely incredible and it wouldn't have been the same without Pema as our guide. Being a local of Lukla, she was the perfect choice. Her knowledge of the area, the history and especially the people made our experience so much richer. It seemed as if she knew everyone, even in Kathmandu! This insider knowledge was so useful to us and she knew all the best/cheapest places to stay/buy things and all the little things we would not have known about otherwise. Having a female guide was also awesome, as every other guide we met was male, it was refreshing and incredible to share our experience with a pro female guide. We also really appreciated her help in Kathmandu and collecting us at the airport where we otherwise would have been very lost and confused! She went above and beyond for us before, during and after the trek, and even sorted us a last minute helicopter to Lukla when our flight was cancelled two days in a row! Thanks Pema! You're awesome! Would recommend her in a heartbeat to anyone trekking in the Everest Region :)
