Dawa grew up in the village, Chaurikharka, near Lukla in the Khumbu (Everest) Region of Nepal. Growing up so close to the Lukla Airport, he was interested in the trekking industry from the young age of 16. He got a government guiding license and has been leading treks through the mountains around his home ever since.
