Langtang Region

The Langtang region was hard-hit in 2015 when an avalanche triggered by the earthquake buried nearly the entire village of Langtang in rock and ice. The fact that the lodges have been rebuilt and trekkers are returning to this beautiful region nestled along the border with Tibet is a testament to the resiliency of its people. Treks in Langtang Region start from road heads at Dhunche or Syapru Besi, which are easily reachable from Kathmandu. In addition to the stunning Langtang Valley, the region is home to the sacred lake of Gosainkunda and the Laurebina La, which takes trekkers into the Helambu region directly north of Kathmandu. For those itching to get off the beaten track, the Tamang Heritage Trail offers a rich cultural experience with its homestay accommodations in traditional villages.
