This is a very remote and high route between Lo Manthang in Upper Mustang and Chharka Bot in Dolpo. It may be difficult to find a guide who has experience on the route and there is no maintained trail. The trail goes over the Kakyap La 5600 m then stays above 5000 m for at least 3 days before going over the 5665 m Chanagor La. Proper acclimatization is crucial.

It can be hot and humid in the valleys at low elevations, so make sure you carry enough water. Like the rest of the spring, clear mornings typically give way to cloudy afternoons. At high altitudes, the precipitation can turn to snow, although at trekking elevations the accumulation does not usually get too deep. May is also the season when many 8000 m peaks are climbed so base camps of these mountains will be busy with activity.
