The village of Tengboche is home to one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the Khumbu. It is the spiritual heart of the Khumbu and is also blessed with spectacular mountain views. From Tengboche the peaks of Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku are all visible.
October begins the most popular time to trek, with moderate temperatures, clear skies in the wake of the monsoon, and a low chance of rain and snow. In recent years, the monsoon rains have receded later with weather patterns typically stabilizing in mid-October. While the chance of snow is decreased, there is the possibility of a heavy snowfall at higher elevations. If ill-timed and prolonged, this can make it difficult to cross some passes.
