Mingma grew up in the village of Churikharka, a village near Lukla in the Khumbu (Everest) Region of Nepal. Growing up so close to the airport serving the foreign tourists who came to view or climb the highest mountain in the world, Mingma entered into the trekking industry at the young age of 14. He worked first as a porter, then as an assistant guide and finally as a government licensed trekking guide. He has sense led treks throughout Nepal including the Everest, Annapurna, Nar Phu, Upper Mustang, and Manaslu regions. Mingma says what he enjoys most about being a trekking guide are the opportunities to meet new people from all over the world, have cultural exchanges, and visit new places.

1st of all, thank you so much to Micah for his prompt response to all my queries. Based on his response I had fully prepared myself for this trip. Also I wish to express my gratitude for his excellent suggestion of recommending mingma as my guide. Mingma is not just a guide to me but more of my companion during the whole trek. He is jovial, caring, experience and knowledgeable guide, who seems to know everything about the trek, from flora, mountain, fauna and all the mother nature. More importantly I admire his love of nature and immensely enjoy the trek. These personalities made him an excellent guide. I have no problem communicating with him at all. He has very good command of English and I think his English is much better than most of the guides I met during my trek. His unselfishness sharing his knowledge with other guides and trekkers (without guides) won him alot of friendships. Some of the trekkers even asking me his contact. Despite he has many years of experience being a guide, he opens for suggestion and allows flexibility to change trek itinerary based on my needs. Because of this, I earned extra one rest day in pokahra by completing the trek ahead of time. Besides, I have also gained alot of insights into Nepalis social life and culture including some simple Nepali's language through him. During my trek, I was assisted by a Porter named munbaktur (not sure if I spelt his name correctly). Despite he hardly speaks any English, he is a super cheerful and easy going man. He is caring too. I remember few occasions he held my hand when I almost fell. They were my great companion during my Anapurna circuit trek although I was a lone hiker. I never felt lonely at all! They had certainly enriched my hiking experience and my love for nepal. Thank you so much to mingma and munbaktur. I will definitely recommend both of them to my friends in Malaysia. Hope to meet my dear friends again when I return for EBC.
